THINGS THAT A SELLER SHOULD DO IN ORDER TO PROPERLY STAGE THEIR HOUSE FOR SALE.
The front and back yard: Haul any trash away, mow, edge, fertilize and water the lawn, and make sure the entry way is clear. Garage and driveway: Clean out and organize the garage, and clean any oil stains. Painting outside: Check and see if the outside of the house needs painting, and purchase a new front door mat. Painting inside: Check and see if the inside of the house needs painting, if so, use light colors, it gives the feeling of speciousness and cleanliness. Carpets: Check and see if they need to be replaced, or steam cleaned. Kitchen: Clear counters of clutter, box up and remove extra or unused appliances or utensils. Entry: Make sure it’s clear, lay down a small through rug that people can wipe their feet on during showings. Closets: Remove all clothing you won’t wear while marketing your home, so that the closets look spacious. Bathrooms: Replace shower curtains if needed, clean tub, toilet, and sink until they shine. Make all counter tops are clear and clean. Make sure there is no leaking plumbing, and use scanted soap and fresh towers. Bedrooms: Make sure all beds are made, and that all rooms are neat and clean. Family and living rooms: Make sure they stay clean and remain spacious, airy, and remove extra pictures, magazines, etc. When showing: Get the family involved, but stay out of the realtors way. Turn on soft music, open drapes, and make sure all lights are turned on Remember, we tend to live in a house one way, and we have to market it another way. If a house is staged right, it should sell it’s self.
